ARCOMadrid turns 40, and fair of contemporary art in the capital aims to celebrate this cultural reunion with the aim of reactivating the market. In De Salas, art lovers and admirers of Madrid, we found it to be a most interesting event and one that we collect, as in previous years, with the idea of ​​promoting national culture.
On this occasion, the presence of Latin America takes on a new role with the incorporation of a special section of Latin American. New this year, ARCOMadrid concentrates artist projects on women, which will contribute to the visibility and prominence of their creators. The event will be especially focused on professionals, for which it is extended one more day, from Wednesday, July 7 to Friday, July 11, with sessions aimed at both agents in the sector and the general public.
Organized by IFEMA, ARCOMadrid It is proposed to mark a turning point to relaunch and reactivate the market of contemporary art. The support received by institutions, museums and art centers, galleries, collectors and other professionals has been essential to launch this cultural meeting that will also promote the image of Madrid and from Spain.
For this edition, ARCO Madrid will register the participation of 131 galleries, and an internationality greater than 54%, whose artistic proposals will offer a fair of quality, with which collectors and art professionals will celebrate the cultural reunion. And it will feature the participation of galleries from other regions such as Dvir Gallery from Tel Aviv, or Movart from Luanda, as well as Latin American galleries.
And in this edition, the presence of Latin America takes on a new role, as a special section of Latin American art is incorporated, produced with the complicity of Mariano mayer. In a new model, which raises the possibility of the presence of works that do not require transportation for their exhibition due to their immateriality, due to the artist's residence or due to the support of other galleries.
As usual, ARCO Madrid is interested in new galleries that, either because of their short history or because they are new for the Spanish context, present interesting proposals and allow the discovery of other creators. Likewise, as a novelty this year, artist projects will be concentrated exclusively on women, which will contribute to greater visibility and prominence for female creators.
