Madrid is full of options cultural, gastronomic and tourist, and in De Salas We thought that, since this December long weekend it will be difficult to leave the capital, because we comply with the established rules, we are going to suggest wonderful and evocative plans to our clients and friends, without leaving the city.
The first thing we must do in Madrid These days it is, without a doubt, walking through the center and seeing the street lights or places as emblematic as Gran VĂa, Castellana or the Puerta del Sol, and the positions of the Plaza Mayor, which are already assembled. Of course, with half the usual booths and an entrance restricted to the capacity, as the rules now dictate.
If we talk about lights, we cannot forget the Botanical Garden, which illuminates its interior in an almost magical way, inviting everyone who approaches to enter and stroll through its paths, a trip that, when it gets dark, has nothing to envy of any children's film.
El It is also part of the offer of Madrid, and there are two exhibitions that we would especially like to recommend. One is the one offered by Reina Sofia Museum about Mondrian, which had to be postponed a couple of times due to the pandemic but is finally seeing the light and can be visited, a luck for Madrid residents to observe first-hand the work of one of the artists of modernity.
The second especially seduces us because it is avant-garde, neither more nor less than Banksy, the unknown artist to whom no one puts a face but whose works are auctioned for exorbitant amounts while the author himself destroys them live without knowing where from.
On December 3, Circle of Fine Arts opens its doors to the exhibition BANKSY. The Street is a Canvas, an unprecedented exhibition in our country about the mysterious and always controversial British artist of street art. Unforgivable not to go. It had to be in Madrid.
Another spectacle is the meninas. Madrid was filled with them before Christmas. But Christmas comes with a surprise. A 10-meter-high menina has already been installed in the Plaza de ColĂłn, with more than 37.000 lamps. It sure impresses. This menina is the work of Antonio Azzato.
If we want to protect ourselves from the cold but take the opportunity to have a drink and, at the same time, be warm and have a view, then what we have to do is go to the hotels Barcelo Imagine, between ChamartĂn station and Plaza Castilla, which hides in its patio a terrace equipped with stoves and even a fireplace! A different and pleasant plan.
And of course, what would become of Madrid without the unmistakable and familiar smell of roasted chestnuts that permeates the streets from the stalls that dot the walks, streets and avenues of Madrid. A travel loaded with nostalgia.
En De Salas we love Madrid, and just as we like to suggest trips or accommodations, we are the first to bet on what we have here and that, sometimes, we forget to value. Happy bridge.
