Two of the capitals most important European Madrid y Paris, are committed to green areas in their cities. And cities are increasingly aware that the future of citizens lies in sustainability and ecology. Therefore, in De Salas, we wanted to collect the two projects that prepare both cities to move to the “natural side” of life.
We start with the first of the capitals that we have closer, Madrid, which will have a Metropolitan Forest which will combine five projects and different existing green areas in the city. There will be 75 kilometers that will surround the capital, an ambitious project that laid its first stone in December 2020 and that little by little is taking shape and, above all, color, the Verde.
The project is divided into five lots, following criteria of geographical continuity, since it is about uniting five areas: El Pardo, Valdelatas and Casa de Campo, which will be the Northwest Crown; Arroyo, Valdebebas, fairgrounds, Nueva Centralidad del Este, O'Donnell wedge park and Almodóvar hill northeastern crown.
La Southeast crown It covers the Cerros, Cañaveral, Ahijones, Berrocales, Ensanche de Vallecas, Valdecarros, Cerro de Herradura and Cantiles de Manzanares; the Southern crown It is proposed to connect the river's fluvial systems Manzanares and Gavia stream with Entrevías, La Atayuela, Mercamadrid and Butarque and finally the southwest crown which integrates Getafe, Leganés and Alcorcón with the Casa de Campo, highlighting the river environments of the Meaques stream.
Each of these lots receives a name, thus, Lot 1 is Between natural mountains, Lot 2, Uniting urban parks, Lot 3 under the name The southeastern green ring, Lot 4 The river parks of the south and finally The metropolitan ring. Five denominations in order to convert one of our capitals, Madrid, in a lung for Spain.
The other of the capitals What a bet on green is Paris, which has proposed that the Champs-Élysées “return to being the most beautiful avenue in the world. This idea and becoming a perfect example of a 21st century city define the new project that will turn the French flagship into a great (new) ride Verde.
“Because rest and peace are something difficult to find on this almost 2-kilometer walk that brings together the highest levels of pollution, waste generation and noise pollution in all of Paris, the project presented by the architecture studio Philippe Chiambaretta, PCA-Stream", is based on converting this frequent passage of vehicles into a space in which to rethink nature as an ecosystem, seeking to give it new uses that will attract Parisians again."
“This drastic reduction in the space allocated for vehicles will allow recreational use of about 16 hectares until now destined to be roads. However, the space will not be strictly pedestrian, since the project includes a new line of trams and electric buses, as well as bike lanes that allow citizens to move with zero pollution. Paris", they tell us from the other capitals green.
Perhaps motivated by the health crisis that is still in force in the world and that has changed our lives, or simply because health has become a precious commodity, the truth is that in De Salas we celebrate that two of our capitals favorites have agreed on wanting to give their citizens a healthier life.
