En De Salas We take advantage of the summer to go shopping in two parts of the world that are opposite in concept but united by good taste and style. Paris and Palma de Mallorca, Lafayette Galleries with a colossal architectural project to house a new premises and Simple, a small, beautiful and delicate craft store.
There are things that only happen in Paris, and converting an old money-drawing bank and projecting it in style Art Deco, in a shopping store, multifunctional room, area for fashion shows or brand events, is one of them.
But that is what has happened with a building from the 30s, where there used to be a safe there is now a mannequin and in the corner where there was a queue to check out, we found a shoe display. Because what the architecture studio that carried out the project has done is combine those original details with opulent displays to create a new store in Lafayette Galleries.
According to the study itself, it is “a retail laboratory designed to function as more than just a store for shopping: Lafayette Galleries sees it as a hybrid retail model, which will be used to host fashion shows, brand events and other activities.” And the heart of the venue is undoubtedly the light-filled central atrium anchored by a sequence of solid marble columns.
A shopping experience without a doubt, which will not leave indifferent any customer who wants to take advantage of a visit to the always desirable French capital to enter a building steeped in history and at the same time, wrapped in the most absolute avant-garde in terms of design.
And on the opposite side of the scale, but with the same charm and job well done, we find Simple, in Palma de Mallorca, a store where you can also shop for simple, artisan products, made by “honest hands”, as its owners say, and where entering it is a trip back in time.
“Simple is a return to our grandparents' house, to an old but modern home that is out of fashion. The idea came from the trips we took and what we wanted as a gift to take with us. We were always looking for real things from the countries we visited, in supermarkets, hardware stores or old neighborhood stores,” says Javier Ferrer Vidal, owner.
The store is located in Quarter Square, an area that is in the process of transformation, very close to the Plaza Mayor, and offers gifts for all those looking for products made in Spain, craftsmanship and timeless designs.
Two models, two cities, two concepts, two styles, but in both cases with the common denominator that also characterizes De Salas, to take care of even the smallest detail when it comes to our clients and friends.
