Another year, the Cannes Boat Show manages to fill the waters of the French Mediterranean and its Blue Coast with glamor and design. From yesterday until Sunday, the largest manufacturers and shipyards, as well as the most relevant names in the naval world, meet at this international fair.
Little by little, the bets and future projects of the different types of vessels that will sail the seas in the coming months are being discovered. Ferretti, Bavaria, Sunseeker, Fraser o Dufour These are just some of the most relevant names that have not hesitated to choose Cannes to present their new products.
Most of the Cannes events are focused on the press, and that makes the presentations few but very juicy. And this is how one of the jewels that has already seen the light and that everyone is talking about has been revealed, the SD96 model of the Italian brand. Saint Lawrence, whose interior design has been developed by the most important designer of today, the Spanish Patricia Urquiola.
Although Sanlorenzo is not one of the best-known shipyards, the name of Urquiola is synonymous with the highest design and, therefore, inimitable qualities, finishes and projects, which is why Sanlorenzo has located itself in Cannes, with this association, in a upper echelon in terms of interior perception.
The technical specifications of the yacht speak of a 28-meter-long model, inspired by the type of transatlantic vessel of the 1930s and evoking that quintessential concept of elegance and precision. This conception of flexibility and modularity was what decided the flow of the interior spaces designed by Urquiola in his first foray into the naval world.
SD96 is the basic model of Sanlorenzo's historic line of semi-displacement SD yachts, a 28 meter long model that will replace the SD92, another of the shipyard's successes, which was launched in 2007 with 27 units sold, showing and maintaining their natural state and evolution, that distinctive style with which they have always distinguished themselves.
Like all models in the line, the SD96 is built on three bridges, but thanks to the carefully studied proportions and the great balance achieved between design and volume, it is not only exceptionally elegant, but also light and manageable.
In a balance between severity and irony, between an industrial and artisanal approach, Patricia Urquiola creates different styles and furniture through her search for material sensitivity and attention to detail, which makes the interiors of SD96 warm and welcoming, but with a modern, sophisticated and elegant general appearance, as dictated by the Cannes canons.
The main deck saloon is characterized by cannulated oak panel walls and parquet flooring, a true example of the concept of modularity. In fact, its function can be increased by installing, if necessary, a dining table for 10 people, cleverly folded inside a bench in front of the sofa.
On the upper deck we find the Sky lounge, with windows that open completely and that can be used as a living room, dining room or cinema thanks to the modular furniture. The principle of flexibility returns to the lower deck, where the living room can be totally transformed by closing a system of sliding panels, creating a VIP cabin with bathroom.
A nautical wonder that has conquered both sea sailors and lovers of land design, a combination that elevates the category of luxury to another consideration, where interior and exterior merge to turn a yacht into a kind of luxury home and that in De Salas We have shared and brought directly from Cannes for our clients and friends.
